Medical Abortion
Medical abortion is a non-surgical procedure that is carried out to terminate pregnancy, particularly during the early stages, that is up to 12 weeks. The process is simple and it requires the woman to take two medicines, mifepristone and misoprostol. It is advised to take misoprostol 24-48 hours after taking mifepristone.
The mifepristone helps to block or eliminate the hormones that are required for pregnancy, while misoprostol helps the uterus to contract. The process is usually safe and does not involve anaesthesia. However, a woman might experience side-effects after the consumption of medicines, such as, painful cramps, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and heavy bleeding.
